Haiti
Institut Brenda Strafford Les Cayes, Haiti. Official opening, March 24th, 1984, with the cooperation of Canadian International Development Agency. Administered by members of the Sisters of The Charity of St. Louis. Haiti is the poorest country in our hemisphere.
The Foundation has sponsored several health education programmes for doctors and nurses in Haiti and Dominica.
In 1994 an Ear, Nose and Throat specialty was instituted at our Haiti Hospital under the direction of Dr. Jeff Van de Heyning and his colleagues from Belgium. This speciality further advanced by the cooperation of Drs. Jacques Harbour and Raymond Marie Guay from Quebec.
On November 16th, 2000 Sister Evelyne Tremblay, Administratrice of Institut Brenda Strafford in Les Cayes, Haiti was awarded the Order of Canada.
